The other day I flew to an island to get my peace on
They provided me with a rental Nissan
It is called the Rogue
It is not very vogue
I drank a couple beers
That Nissan isn’t one to fear
I turned it on and said to myself with drear
This will be a long vacation due to....
CORPORATE AMERICA GIVING US CRAP CUV VEHICLES INSTEAD OF WHAT WE REALLY WANT LIKE BROWN DIESEL, MANUAL, WAGONS....
On a more serious note: Any Big Island suggestions?

Agreed - really hating the growing CUV trend. Pains me to see cars disappearing. By the time I get my next car, there won’t be any manuals left for me to pick from!
Guess I’ll just have to import a used DD from Europe!

I found a 300TD wagon in that light creamy yellow shade.
I was about ready to drive it away.

Were you almost struck by lightening when you walked away. It is sacrilegious to walk away from a diesel wagon deal. :)

No, but I was almost t-boned by someone ignoring a red light.

Big Island suggestions: depends, what sort of things are you looking for? Beaches and chilling, or hiking and exploration?

Every oppo recommendation was spot on. South Point is neat.

Reproduction in the geographic area of the Americas is heavily limited. Only one new subspecies has been found within the past decade. European reproduction rates are at risk of decline.

Check out Manini’owala state park. Amazingly beautiful waters and white sands, very accessible (off the ring road north of the Kona airport), and a bit sheltered so it’s very good if the surf is stronger.
If you get up early, you can see dolphins in Kealakekua bay. They come really near to shore; you can probably see it from there, or look into getting a boat ride there.
The downtown Kailua area is the nicest I found to walk around and check out some restaurants, get some ice cream, look at the ocean while the sun goes down. There’s a good public parking lot a bit NE of where the main big walking drag ends, near the busier north-south street that’s set back a couple blocks from the ocean.
If you go over to the Hilo side, there’s a really awesome nature conservatory a short ways north of Hilo with so many flowers, ferns, and even some cool birds.
Enjoy!
